Niche content sites are simple sites that give information on a very specific topic. They are not meant to be large websites and they should not need to be updated constantly with new content. The niche site will be setup once with quality unique content and should require only periodic maintenance.

The point of a niche site is to give information on a topic that has not been properly covered by other websites. The goal is to optimize your website for the topic you are covering and to get search engine traffic to come to your site to learn more about that topic. The only reason that the site is small and not constantly updated is because the niche is very specific and everything can be covered with only a small amount of articles.

The key to this being successful is finding the right niche. You need to be able to find a niche that will get you decent traffic and at the same time does not have any competition so that you can rank high in the search engine rankings. You might be thinking it is impossible to find a niche with those stipulations, but there are a lot of opportunities available. Even though there are millions of websites online, most of them cover the same topics, so it is not as hard as you might think to find a topic that nobody has covered. For tips on finding a niche, you can look at this article: How to Find the Right Niche for Your Niche Content Website.

After you have found your niche, the next step is to write unique articles for your website. It is important that you never copy content and always use unique articles. Search engines can easily detect duplicate content and you will not get any traffic. You can choose between writing articles yourself or hiring a freelance writer to write your articles for you. You can read more about writing articles for your website in this article: How to Write Great Content for Your Niche Content Website.

Your final step is to setup the website and optimize it for the search engines. This can be difficult if you have no experience with websites, but if you use WordPress, and it is recommend that you do, you can take advantage of their outstanding community to help guide you through the process. You can read more about setting up your website in this article: How to Setup Your Niche Content Website with WordPress.

1. Adsense

Adsense is by far the most popular program for making money from your website. It is very easy to setup and Google automatically displays relevant ads to display on your site based on the content of your site. Most ads that are displayed from Adsense are paid per click, but occasionally you will get ads that pay per impression. Adsense is my favorite program to start a site with, but it is not always the most profitable so testing is extremely important to maximize your profit potential.

2. Chitika

Chitika is similar to Adsense in that you get paid per click and they automatically display relevant ads, but the ads are based on search engine queries from search engine visitors. Even though Chitika is similar to Adsense, they are still both allowed to be on the same page.

3. Amazon Associates

Amazon offers many tools for creating ads to display on your website. You can create a simple link to a product or you can create your own store to display on your website. You can also create automatically updating banners with common sizes that will display the bestselling items from any category that you choose. Amazon will pay you a percentage of the sales that you generate.

4. Private Ad Sales

The best way for monetizing your website is with private ad sales. You can specify the ad location, size, and price for advertisers to purchase and you will be paid monthly for the advertising spot. This is typically the best solution because you are working directly with the advertiser and you receive all of the revenue, so both you as the website owner and the advertiser are getting a better deal than if there was a middleman.

5. Ebay Partner Network

The eBay Partner Network is similar to the Amazon Associates program only eBay is now paying per click instead of paying a percentage. The per click pricing is supposed to be based on the quality of traffic that you send to eBay.

6. Commission Junction

Commission Junction is a large affiliate network for some very popular brands. You apply to each company separately and then you have access to banners and text links to add to your website. Every company is different, but most pay a flat rate per lead or a percentage of your total sales. If you can find relevant companies to promote for your site, many times you can earn more per click from Commission Junction than you would through Adsense.

7. AzoogleAds

AzoogleAds is another affiliate network like Commission Junction, but they have a lot more offers that pay per lead. Offers that pay per lead often convert higher than offers that pay per sale and can be more profitable.

8. Tribal Fusion

Tribal Fusion is one of the many programs that will pay per impression. If you have a website that gets a lot of page views per visitor, then it would be a good idea to consider CPM ads. With a niche content site that relies on search engine traffic, you will most likely not use a program like this, but it could be a decent complement to your other ads.

9. ClickBank

ClickBank is a marketplace for digital products like eBooks. You will be paid a percentage of the sale price for every sale that you refer. A lot of the products for sale are full of hype and misleading, but there are some legitimate products that are worth promoting on your website. It would be worth looking through the marketplace for products related to your niche to check if there are any quality items to promote.

10. Miscellaneous Advertising Programs

Since you are covering niche topics, it is a good idea to find other websites in your general niche and look for products that you can feel proud to promote. You want to offer value to your visitors, so besides just adding quality, unique content to your site, you also need to display quality advertisements. Just make sure that it is something of genuine value and that relates to your niche.

Next, you will need to purchase a hosting plan. Shared hosting from HostGator is a cost effective choice and they are a reliable provider with top-rated customer service. You will not need to move to a dedicated server until you have many sites that are all getting a large amount of traffic, so save your money and use shared hosting until you are at that point.

You may think that you can use shared hosting forever since they advertise unlimited disk storage and unlimited data transfer, but that is not the case. If you read the fine print, you will see that your account cannot exceed a certain percentage of the total server resources, which means at some point the host is going to ask you to move to a dedicated server or to host elsewhere. When that day comes, you should be excited that you are getting enough traffic that you need a dedicated server.

Now that you have a domain and hosting, you are ready to setup your site. WordPress is easy to use and there is a large community to offer help. It is commonly used for blogging, but it is also a very good content management system. If you are using HostGator, you can login to your cPanel and click on Fantastico and you can quickly and easily install WordPress.

Now that you have WordPress installed, you will need to choose a theme. There are a lot to choose from, but it is up to you when deciding which one you pick. All themes offer the same basic functionality; it is just a matter of aesthetics.

After you select the theme that you want, you will need to use an FTP program to upload the theme. You can use the free FTP program FileZilla for Mac OS X, Linux, or Windows. You will upload the theme into the wp-content/themes directory.

Another great feature of WordPress is the use of plugins. Some of the plugins that you should use are Advertising Manager, Akismet, All in One SEO Pack, Contact Form, Google Analytics for WordPress, Google Sitemap Generator, and Really Simple Captcha. Akismet and Really Simple Captcha help fight spam with comments and emails. Advertising Manager does exactly what the name implies and easily works with setting up Adsense ads. I recommend creating a contact page for every site so that visitors and especially potential advertisers can contact you. All in One SEO Pack and Google Sitemap Generator both help when optimizing your site for the search engines. Google Analytics is a great resource for viewing visitor behavior on your site. You will upload the plugins into the wp-content/plugins directory.

Now that you have WordPress installed and uploaded the theme and several plugins, you should spend some time learning about how WordPress works. There is too much info to be covered in this article, but the developers of WordPress do an excellent job writing documentation to teach you how to use it. Click here to go to the WordPress Docs main page.

When it comes to writing great content for your niche content site, you first need to have a good understanding of your topic. It is best if you have a great interest or passion for your niche. This means that you already know a lot of useful information and allows you to just sit down in front of a computer and put your thoughts into words with very little effort. If you do not know the topic well enough, then you will need to do some research.

With all of the information available on the internet, doing research typically is as easy as going to Google and searching for what you are looking for. However, since you are covering a niche that has not been properly covered yet by any websites, there is a good chance that this method will not work.

If Google does not help you find what you are looking for, then your next resource is to find someone that is an expert on the topic you are covering. It is best if you know someone personally that you can call or email and ask them a few questions. If you do not know anyone personally, then you could go back to looking online for someone that seems to be an expert in the general area of your niche. Find a quality site in a similar niche as the one you are covering and send the owner a polite email. Not all webmasters will answer your questions, so it is best to find several sites similar to your own. When you do find one that is willing to communicate with you, then most likely they will know enough to help you write an informative article or they might be able to direct you to finding the information you are looking for from another resource.

Now the most important part of writing the article is to make sure that you are writing it in your own words. You must never copy the work of someone else. Not only is it a violation of copyright laws, but it will be seen by the search engines as duplicate content and you will never get any traffic.

If you find another article that gives quality information on your topic, then it is best to read over it a couple times to understand the outline of the information and to help you remember that information, but you should not read over the article at the same time that you are writing your own article. It is best to do your research first and have your thoughts in your head and then write the article. If you are looking at other sources at the same time that you are writing, it is likely that you will copy even if you do not mean to.

Another tip is to do your research for the article and then do something else. Your brain will be processing the information you just learned while you are doing something else. Subconsciously you will be writing the article without spending any additional time. This will speed things up when you go to actually write the article.

If you have a strong understanding of your topic and you wrote the article from your own thoughts without using any sources, then you can leave out this last step. Although, if you did use sources and you want to double check that what you wrote is original, then you can check your work at Copyscape. It will cost you five cents per search and is the best tool to check for plagiarism. If you see any results, then you should change your article a little, so that it is unique.

The most important step in building a profitable niche content site is finding the right niche. If there is a lot of competition, then it will be very difficult to get high search engine rankings. If there were little competition but very little traffic, then it would be a waste of time. It is essential to find a niche that has low competition and a decent amount of traffic.

The first step to finding the right niche for your niche content website is to make a list of all the things that you are interested in or have a good knowledge of. It is a lot easier to create a niche site if you know the topic you are covering. When it comes time to write articles or to hire someone to write articles for you, it helps to know your subject, especially if you are writing the articles yourself. If you enjoy the topic you are writing about, it makes it much more enjoyable to write about than if you have to do a lot of research.

After you have a list of general topics to cover, you need to further research those topics and find keywords that get a decent amount of traffic. You can go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and enter a general keyword from your list to get a longer list of potential keywords. Now you are going to want to pick out the keywords that have more than 1,000 global monthly searches per month and most likely a keyword with little competition will have less than 10,000 global monthly searches per month. If you are lucky you will find a keyword that has more than 10,000 searches and little competition, but that is not common.

Now that you have picked out a few potential keywords, you will go to Google and search those keywords to see the competition. You mainly want to look at the first ranking, since that is where you will want to be. Look at the title of the page to see if the keyword is listed. If the keyword is not in the title, but is only in the article, then that keyword would be a good candidate to build a website around. Next, you want to go to a domain registrar like Godaddy and check to see if the .com version of that keyword is available. If it passes both tests, then you can register that domain and use that keyword to build your niche content site. When doing your research, you can easily find more than one niche to cover, so that when you finish your first site then you can move on to your next niche site.
